Some of you might get stuck with videos on youtube or reading sewing magazines by yourself. Sewing is shown so often as “easy” and online it looks like it’s a piece of cake to create your own garments.

I’m sewing for more than 30 years and: I still don’t think it’s easy!

I think every piece that you want to sew needs some special attention. Choosing the right fabric, choosing the right design that you manage to sew by yourself, follow the sewing steps, handle your machine well, use a pattern that is made for your measurements, cut the fabric well…. that’s all not “easy”, but…

Sewing is so much fun, when you get the little tips do it right!

I’ve had sewing students in my tiny sewing studio from all over the world since 2011 and let me tell you: with a little help we got to the greatest, coolest, most flattering and creative pieces that you can imagine!

Here’s a little example from my recent sewing student Vinnie, who had exactly the experience that I described above: she got really interested in sewing, got a sewing machine, tried to figure out to sew her clothes, but got stuck on the way.

In only 4 sewing classes we made her first skirt: from her inspiration, some pattern making, much sewing fun and we did realise exactly the piece that she wanted.
