There are several ways to sew the bottom of a bag. Here are just 5 suggestions for beautiful finishings.
Front and back of the bag sides should be rounded on the bottom. Insert a tape of the width that you want your bag to be + 1cm seam allowance left and right.
Sew the tape around the whole front piece. To smoothen the round part, cut small “teeth” in the seam allowance. Iron and turn the bag inside out.
Fold the front on the back.. Open the bottom to a “T” shape. Left and right should be 2-3 cm. Fold the
“T” shape down and iron it. Sew the sides and turn the bag inside out.
Fold the front on the back. Push the center bottom line down in the middle (of the front and back side). If you push it in 2 cm, your bag bottom will be 4 cm wide. If you push it in 3 cm, your bag bottom will be 6 cm wide and so on…
Iron the bottom and close the sides. Turn the bag inside out, open and unfold the triangle and iron all edges.
Fold the font on the back. Fold both layers to a “L” shape (here upside down) and iron it completely down. If you fold it over 2 cm, your bag bottom will be 4 cm. If you fold it over 3 cm, your bag bottom will be 6 cm and so on.
Close the sides and turn the bag inside out. Unfold the trinagle and iron all edges.
Close the bottom with a simple seam. Pull (i.e.) five cm left and 5cm right of the seam until a isosceles triangle appears.
It is very important that right and left lenghts are equal! Sew a seam 90 degrees to the center bottom seam at the corner points.
Turn the bag inside out and iron all edges.
