New Sewing Machine!
My good friend Anna moved to Hong Kong this weekend… how sad! After the earthquake of March 11th most of my friends left Tokyo, and most of them without a return ticket. BUT she made me very happy with selling her Janome Sewing Machine to me! It is a Janome Monaze E4000 model for about…
My Vintage Kimono Workshop
Last Monday I was a happy student at a Vintage Kimono Crafting Workshop! Kimonos became rare in the streets, unfortunately. These traditional exquisit garments were once worn in daily life. Today there is only a little group of admirers left. Weddings, visits of temples at New Year or the Kabuki Theater give reasons to wear…
Single Student Intensive Sewing Class
Today I went to Chiyoda ku to teach 5 hours for a Single Student Intensive Sewing Class! It was great fun and we really got a lot done. We managed to sew half of the contet of the regular Sewing Classes: Snap buttons, eye lets, fabric guidance, threading the machine, simple seams and denim seam,…

One more bag
I just developed a shopping bag from the sponsored KENZO fabric. Inside is an older jaquard fabric from Tsumori Chisato 😉 What a nice combination! We will also make a series of these bags and send them to Onagawa in Miyagi Prefecture. Size 25 x 25 x 25cm is a convenient shopping size, the hangers…

Charity Items
Me and my family went to Kyoto on March 15th, 4 days after the Earthquake. The pressure to leave the country was getting harder when the first explosion at the Fukushima Nuclear Plant happened. As a half Japanese and half German family we decided to make a compromise and went to Kyoto for two weeks….
Sibayo – A Sewing Cafe in Kyoto
We found a little “pot of gold” in Kyoto yesterday afternoon. The Sewing cafe and School Sibayo behind the old Geisha Quarter Gion in Kyoto. In the cafe space they cook wonderful organic food and upstairs there is a sewing atelier with a complete set up: machines, overlock and a spacious table. The sewing machines…
